Kaleidoscope Lights of Christmas
A Devotional Prayer Journey
through the season of Advent & Christmas
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father,
who created all the lights in the heavens.
He never changes or casts a shifting shadow” . . . James 1:17
A kaleidoscope—a tube containing mirrors and pieces of colored glass or paper, whose reflections produce changing patterns visible through an eyehole when the tube was rotated. . . . a toy we remember from childhood . . . spending hours looking through the lens at the ever-changing colors, shapes, and patterns that were brought out in the light.
Kaleidoscopes involve broken pieces, that when reflected in the prisms of mirrors and add light – the beauty shines through.
We are all in pieces and broken bits on the inside, just like a kaleidoscope, but somehow, when you look through each
of us, when the right light is added, you begin to see something beautiful and magical.
When that perfect light that shines through the broken pieces is Christ, we become beautiful inside and out.
Christmas season is about celebrating the arrival of The Light into the world . . . the Light that brings Hope, Peace,
Joy, and Love to earth.
Each week is a step on the journey toward The Light . . . each week adds more and more depth and intensity to the anticipation of the celebration of the arrival of Christ into the world . . . that beacon of Light piercing through the darkness, that provides Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.
As we head toward the peak of Truth that is about to arrive, it is wise to savor and cherish each step of the journey, and important to take time to rest and delight in the gifts that God is bringing into the world . . . God’s gifts of hope, peace, joy, and love shining forth because of The Light.
Be willing to carve out a few moments each week for God—Sundays Tuesdays, Thursdays, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Morning.
Join this prayerful journey through the Advent season and into the revelation of Christmas!
Light of the world . . . You stepped down into darkness . . . Opened my eyes, let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore You . . . Hope of a life spent with You
Here I am to worship . . . Here I am to bow down . . . Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely . . . Altogether worthy . . . Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days . . . Oh, so highly exalted . . . Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came to the earth You created . . . All for love's sake became poor
Here I am to worship . . . Here I am to bow down . . . Here I am to say that You're my God
You're altogether lovely . . . Altogether worthy . . . Altogether wonderful to me
