God Grant Me the Serenity:
A Path to Finding Inner Peace
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace
I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
~ John 14:27
Introduction
Serenity and peace walk hand in hand through calmness, quiet, stillness, and tranquility. Our hope is to understand how to work through, set aside, or move beyond troubling, disquieting, or oppressive thoughts or stirred emotions and instead, focus on a less troubled mind and soul, interwoven together in harmony.
Finding peace and serenity in life is a constant pursuit, sometimes a slow walk and other times a race with an impossible pace.
There are so many ups and downs in life that neither you nor I can control, yet we still have to “live with them.”
Finding serenity and living in peace is an ongoing process . . . some thorn is always annoyingly poking at you, but the goal is learning to deal with it, so you can LIVE . . . so you can find joy beyond the hurt . . . discomfort . . . sting.
Are you open to making some changes?
To adjust an attitude that is troubling your heart, mind, and soul?
Are you willing to explore a different approach to peace?
Are you ready to open your eyes, ears, and heart and find out what God has prepared for you?
Pause . . . breathe, deep cleansing breaths . . . cry or scream if you must . . . but keep going!
There is a way to find peace with each stumble and speed bump, so that you can wake up each morning with faith as a focus and a light shining from your eyes . . . Christ is that way!
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them,
for it is the Lord your God who goes with you.
He will not leave you or forsake you.”
~ Deuteronomy 31:6

** Each day, through this Holy Week, is a step toward working out where you are in your life right now, what may be holding you in place, and where you need to be headed.
This seven-step journey—a time of discovery and self-examination—focuses on the foundational PEACE and SERENITY provided in a relationship with Christ through Scripture, prayer, meditation, and self-discovery. The intent is to attach new meaning to something familiar, or unfamiliar—to create a deeper understanding of God’s amazing grace, mercy, and love through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Here is the challenge—to take a leap of faith into the arms of Christ—to know He will take care of you, walk beside you, carry you when you are too tired to go on, and be with you every step of your journey together as you step into the Light.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit”
~ Romans 15:13
Focus on each question, Scripture, definition, picture, and thought . . . and pray! . . . If it helps you, write down, or journal as you journey through the days. . . There are no right or wrong answers because all God asks for is an honest relationship with you . . . God can and will help you handle anything, if you let Him.
Take some time for God with God . . . it will be worth it!

An Extra Blessing . . .
WALKING THE LABYRINTH:
A path to finding silence, solitude, & time with God.
Whether you have access to a labyrinth, find a picture to trace with your finger, or draw a path of your own to trace, the labyrinth is a tool to help you pray. The concept is clear . . . follow the path to the center . . . take time to reflect . . . then walk back out.
The center of the labyrinth’s pathway represents light, wholeness, healing, peace, joy, God’s tender presence and unconditional love. Unlike a maze, there are no wrong turns or dead ends. The labyrinth is meant to calm, not confuse. Walking the labyrinth helps with spiritual centering, spiritual contemplation, and spiritual prayer.
“Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths.”
~ Psalm 25:4
For people living in a chaotic world, the labyrinth is a time for refreshment . . . a place to walk in peace with God. Walking the labyrinth has been known to quiet the mind, bring calmness, order, and clarity, nourish one’s spiritual nature, touch one’s sorrows, release one’s joys. It can begin a process of healing—physically, emotionally, and/or spiritually, stir creativity, provide new energy, and empower one to find and do the work one’s soul is reaching for!
There are no rules or “right” or “wrong” ways for using the labyrinth. Each person’s walk is individual and unique. The pace you take and the length of time you stay depends on you.
The labyrinth is an avenue for prayer . . . No one knows what you will find during your time on the labyrinth . . . maybe it will be a profound insight . . .
or maybe just a nice walk.
